So, what aspects of geography are people interested in or working on?
I'm a (part-time) PhD student in the Geography Dept. at King's College London carrying out an ethnographic study examining the social and cultural geographies of queer space in East London.
More broadly, I think of myself as an urban cultural geographer and I have an interest in geographies of political activism and new social movements.

Re: Interests?
Thu, January 8, 2004 - 9:34 AMMy current research involves edge cities with the aim to find ways that edge cities can recover a "sense of place". I am using a prominent business center in Atlanta that began as a regional shopping mall. I have also decided to pursue an ethnographic approach in this research.
I have a broad interest in geography and cartography with more specific interests in new media, place & space, urban morphology, and military geography.
Also, I teach human/regional geography part-time at Georgia State University in Atlanta and do freelance design work, etc. -

Wed, January 14, 2004 - 5:20 AMI know where I am and am currently not doing any research. Still I find what you are both doing fascinating. I work at Emory in one of the many programs that focuses on Internationalization. -

Re: Interests?
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 6:00 PMI did some work with someone from emory on historic preservation. We were using historic maps of downtown Atlanta. Also, did a project on Cabbagetown. I will see if I can dig up those links. Both were interesting.

Re: Interests?
Wed, January 14, 2004 - 6:03 PMI used to live in the docklands back in the mid-eighties. I have heard they have really changed a lot. I worked at a club called "downtown" in Rotherhithe/Surrey Docks. You don't happen to have any info about how that are changed? -

Re: Interests?
Tue, January 27, 2004 - 3:00 AMI'm still an undergrad, hopefully I'll be figuring out what exactly my masters is by this time next year.
Assuming they do let me into a graduate department, I'll probably be doing something as far as extending GIS beyond it's currently paper-derived roots.
